File Under: Thomas Jones, Mike Nugent, Dewayne Robertson, Bob Murphy

11/18 — The Jets win the toss and Leon Washington finally gets a kickoff in his hands, although he can only take 12 yards to the 31. And Kellen Clemens can't get a first down. Ben Graham gets off a nice punt, Allen Rossum is penned in and the Steelersf will get their first OT try beginning at their 18.

And with Dewayne Robertson getting another sack — he's got 2.5 on the day — it appears the visitors are playing for the punt. Daniel Sepulveda does punt, and Washington has his best moment of the game, taking the short kick on the run to the Steelers 26. The Jets are already in field goal range.

Thomas Jones gains 2, then 3 more off the right side, then 1 to the 20. Mike Nugent is about to be called on for the second game-winning FG try of his career.

Nugent is kicking from the middle of the field from 38 yards out. The snap is good, Nugent seems not to get all of it, but he gets enough. The kick is good. "Nugent wins it!" screams Jets radio voice Bob Wischusen on the other side of the glass next to me. "What an effort!" The Jets celebrate at midfield. With 5:03 gone in overtime, the Jets have upset the Steelers.

Jets 19, Steelers 16

This has been a long time coming, but as Bob Murphy used to say at the ends of Mets victories, I'll be back with the happy recap in just a minute. Well, more like an hour or so.

"Good to se E.smith is out of the dog house. He played very well and was a sure tackler. Well now with 3 games in the books for Clemens he already has grown. All 3 games he has started he had the ball with a chance to tie and win games. He finally got over the hump. I thought Montgomery did an excellent job and should start. Baker is Clemens go to guy. Wait till next year."
