File Under: Jerricho Cotchery, Kellen Clemens, Shaun Suisham, Clinton Portis

11/04 — The Jets win the coin toss and elect to receive the kickoff. Rashad Washington gets flagged for his second ST penalty of the game and fourth in three games, setting the Jets at their 19 to begin the extra period. The first play makes up for it though, as Kellen Clemens fakes the handoff to one Jet, then another, then turns around and finds Jerricho Cotchery wide open for a deep left side snag good for 39 yards to the Washington 42.

A 3-yard Thomas Jones run and an incompletion against a seven-man blitz puts the Jets in third-and-7. Then Cotchery drops an out route that would've gotten the first down. Ben Graham has to launch a strong drop punt, which he does (4.34-second hang time, fair-caught by Antwaan Randle El at the Washington 10).

With 200 rushing yards already, you can figure the Burgundy & Gold will continue to run. First down, it's Clinton Portis for 4 yards, then it's Portis for 2. But the Redskins get out of the hole on Jason Campbell's pass to Chris Cooley for 17 yards to the 33.

Campbell then tries for Santana Moss against Darrelle Revis off play action for the game-winner, and Moss has Revis beat, but Campbell beats everyone with an overthrow to the Jets 10. So it's back to Portis for 10 yards off right tackle. Then Portis busts one for 17 yards around the edge — with the Jets blitzing from the backside, and with Bryan Thomas being held by Cooley but no call.

The Green & White call timeout with the 'Skins sitting first-and-10 at the Jets 38 with 9:30 left in the overtime stanza. They have one left.

On third-and-3, Portis appears to have the first down on a run around the left side, but Hank Poteat tripped him up, his knee hit earlier than it appeared, and the Jets have forced a fourth down and a game-winning field goal try by Shaun Suisham, who's already gone 4-for-4 today, from 46 yards out toward the West.

Just as Washington's about to snap the ball, but before Suisham kicks, Eric Mangini calls his last timeout. After the 30-second stoppage, with 7:48 to play, Suisham gets his kick off. At first it appears as if it won't make it, but actually it's long enough by a few yards. The Jets find a new way to lose, extending their losing streak to six games and seeing their record fall to 1-8.

The bye week is next, and if a team ever needs a week without a game, with a lot of work and introspection time, it's the Green and White.

"I'm a big chad fan, The guy has more heart and brains than half the coaching staff. Now that he is not starting Mangini should let him call the defensive plays, they might play better. All I ever hear is about Chad's arm. if gun of a arm is the key for victory don't tell that to Carson Palmer It's the defense and that's Mangin's fault and he is their quarterback so lets bench him."

"Everyone knows we need big/mean O & D linemen. KC was great as young QB with no line & shaky receivers. Love Cotchery who’s normally a quality #2, but he had an awful day. Would have won if Coles played or we had a clutch receiver like Crebet to go to on 3rd down. It won’t be pretty, but you can win with pieces missing if key players are clutch or someone steps up at crunch time. See last year."

"I love my Jets but they are close of becoming the 95 jets. I think what we need is a big WR next year draft. I like CP but KC is looking good in all of the games i seen him play. I think we might see a 5-11 football team at the end of this season. I love my Jets. I hate seeing them lose. "
