File Under: Kellen Clemens, Kerry Rhodes, Dewayne Robertson, Rian Lindell, Shaun Suisham

11/04 — Perhaps we should leave off the first two-thirds of Washington's offensive series and give you the highlights of the last third. The Redskins move nine plays for 47 yards with the third-quarter kickoff, to the Jets 23. But then Dewayne Robertson and Hank Poteat tackle Clinton Portis for a yard gain, Kerry Rhodes is all over a Jason Campbell pass for Antwaan Randle El at the goal line, and Campbell throws behind Santana Moss.

So Shaun Suisham comes in for the 40-yard kick toward the West end zone. He becomes the first Jets opponent to hit four FGs in a game since Buffalo's Rian Lindell in the 2005 finale.

Jets 17, Redskins 12

The Jets go three-and-out for the first time this game as rookie S LaRon Landry, flagged for helmet-to-helmet contact on Kellen Clemens in the first half, comes close again but is not flagged and gets the third-down sack. Clemens hobbles off but seems OK on the bench after Ben Graham hits his first punt of the day.

The defense's next series starts off well with Eric Barton picking up his first sack of the season as LT Chris Samuels fans out to pick up Victor Hobson. But the third down is picked up deflatingly as the 'Skins' blockers pick up the blitz and Jason Campbell has a wide-open field in front of him. He rolls 29 yards to convert third-and-14.

It's the first opponent's third-down conversion run on third-and-11 or longer since Ricky Williams rumbled 18 yards on third-and-16 for Miami here in 2003.

But what Barton began, Barton ends. EB comes up with the shoetop interception as Campbell is blasted in the pocket on an Abram Elam safety blitz. Clemens takes over at the Jets 19 with 5:46 left in the third quarter.

Clemens hits another impressive pass, staring down Landry blitzing again, this time to his open side, by hitting Brad Smith over his outside shoulder for 11 yards on third-and-5.

Now the Jets are picking up chunks of real estate. Jerricho Cotchery takes an end-around inside Anthony Clement's block for 11 yards. Then a dart over the middle to Chris Baker for 9 and Clemens' keeper give the Green & White a first-and-10 at the 'Skins' 20. Then it appears the Jets will have first-and-goal as Leon Washington bounces a run outside to the left.

But D'Brickashaw Ferguson is flagged for holding, so the quarter comes to a close with the Jets facing first-and-20 at the 30 and in desperate need of points if they're going to end their five-game losing streak and get Win No. 2 this year. Fifteen minutes to go.

"Thanks for your help. The NFL ads in breaks in the radio bcast are about 5 notches lower and just background noise. Amazing people listen. Andrew "

"Please post my comment, there is truth in the FACT that Schottenheimer should be coaching PEE WEE FOOTBALL! He is by far the worst coordinator in the NFL. I don't understand why NO ONE is holding him accountable. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED! I am a fan, I called his game a week before he did. I stated, "Expect a disregard for the running game, and a lot of 4wr sets w/ motion." EXPLAIN THIS MANGINI!"
