09/30 — The two QBs, the veteran Pennington and the rookie Edwards, combined for 27 completions on 33 attempts in the first half. And through the first seven minutes, neither missed. Trouble is, the Bills D-line is starting to win the trench warfare against the Jets' O-line. On third-and-1, Thomas Jones is thrown for a 3-yard loss by LB Mario Haggan.
And then Edwards moves Buffalo to the Jets 5 with four completions. A false start barely hurts the Bills as rookie RB Marshawn Lynch powers up the middle — even with rookie LB David Harris in the game — to the goal line. The Bills have drawn first blood.
Bills 7, Jets 0
But Chad Pennington is up for the challenge. He hits Jerricho Cotchery with a pair of 28-yard touch passes, with Cotchery gaining 17 of those 56 yards after the catch. An illegal shift on Justin McCareins hurts but not too bad as Pennington finds Chris Baker for 11 yards to third-and-1 at the Bills 5. This time Chad spends a timeout — this is a big play if the Green & White doesn't want to suffer a bad upset loss.
Apparently they don't. The play call from OC Brian Schottenheimer is a fade from Pennington to Coles, and again Coles reels in the tough catch, taking it away from CB Terrence McGee and tumbling to the ground with the ball in the right corner of the end zone. Tie ballgame.
Jets 7, Bills 7
For Pennington that's 14 consecutive completions. His one incompletion in that stretch, an incompletion to Leon Washington, was wiped out by D'Brickashaw's holding penalty. That ties his personal best of 14 in a row in the 2003 regular-season finale at Miami.
But Edwards appears up to matching drive engineering and completions with Pennington as he leads the Bills from their 8 after a kickoff-return hold toward midfield as the third quarter expires.

I can't even watch our defense play anymore, we need to get rid of Sutton! It's not like we don't have playmakers on D, with the exception of Robertson who's dead weight at NT. The guy hasn't done anything in two years. Sutton and Robertson need to get on the train out of NY!! "

Chad statistically had an excellent game until those (2) horrible interceptions. - last rushed pass should not have been thrown. This offense cannot move the ball fast enough, and too many short passes. All defenses have to do is stay close to the line and stuff Thomas Jones and then stop those 7 yard passes. TJ was good. "
