09/16 — There has been no announcement of who the Jets' starting quarterback will be yet, and I don't expect one until the Jets offense takes the field. But all three Green & White QBs have just jogged onto the field, and that includes Chad Pennington, who at least as he goes through his stretching is showing no ill effects from his sore ankle.

But as the Jets started running their drills, Clemens was taking the snaps with the first offense.

No surprises on the inactive list for this afternoon's 4:15 kickoff at Baltimore, unless you consider Jacob Bender being deactivated again a surprise. The Jets' other IAs are newly signed S Abram Elam, CB Drew Coleman, TE Joe Kowalewski, LB Cody Spencer, DE Mike DeVito and TE Jason Pociask. Marques Tuiasosopo is the third QB.

Before the quarterbacks came out, an hour before kickoff, the only Jets on the field were the placekicking triumvirate of James Dearth, Ben Graham and Mike Nugent. Nugent was easily hitting field goals from the 40-50-yard range into the slight breeze.

The inactives for the Ravens' home opener include T Jonathan Ogden, who reinjured his toe in the opener at Cincinnati on Monday night. The others: K Rhys Lloyd, CB David Pittman, RB Cory Ross, RB Mike Anderson, former Jets TE Daniel Wilcox and LB Edgar Jones. Rookie Troy Smith is the third QB.

The Jets are in their white jerseys and white pants again, making it both games this season in their "tennis whites." The last time they opened the season with their first two games in white/white was 2002.

Both the Jets and Ravens are 0-1, and while no one is looking ahead to the playoffs on either time, it bears reminding that 1-1 is a much more promising start in the NFL than 0-2. Since 1990, 40.5 percent of the 237 teams to start their seasons 1-1 reached the playoff, but only 12.9 percent of the 139 teams that opened 0-2 qualified for the postseason. The track record of 0-2 teams has been even bleaker since 2002, when the league realigned into four-team divisions
