09/12 — The Green scene Wednesday was one of the embodiments of that alleged Chinese proverb and curse, "May you live in interesting times."

The Jets were doing their best to remind everyone that their focus was on their own investigation of how to beat the Ravens this coming Sunday rather than the NFL's investigation of the Patriots' videotaping of the Jets' sidelines this past Sunday.

"I don't get into that," RB Thomas Jones said. "That's an NFL security issue. I'm here to play football."

So were such other locker room notables as S Kerry Rhodes — "I'm not really going to elaborate on this too much — LB Jonathan Vilma — "I'm not worried about it at all" — and CB Hank Poteat, who has made multiple stops with both the Pats and Jets and expertly backpedaled on all attempts at a TV interviewer to elicit any interesting opinion on Videogate.

I even tried engaging rookie LB David Harris in the subject. He's already a veteran at changing subjects. "It's funny no one has wanted to talk to me about Michigan," he said. Oh, yeah, David, sorry about those Wolverines.

Another funny line came from the other interesting situation this week surrounding the Jets quarterbacks. Bryan Thomas and stool got pushed away from his locker along the southern edge of the Jets' locker room due to another throng of reporters checking in with Kellen Clemens at the locker to his left. This after spending the previous two seasons with Curtis Martin two lockers to his right.

"After Curt left," BT said, "I thought I was safe."

Normally at practice, most reporters stand on the sidelines of the Jets' upper grass field rather than turning 60 degrees to their left and watching the lower grass field. But today most TV and still cameras were trained on that lower field because that's where the QBs were working individually.

Chad Pennington was there, his right ankle wrapped but standing and participating, somewhat. He was catching throws from Clemens and Marques Tuiasosopo, but he wasn't winding up and throwing them back.

Pennington is one of six Jets lists on today's first injury report of the week as having limited participation in practice. Others on the list are Jones, DBs Andre Dyson, Justin Miller and Eric Smith, and guard Brandon Moore. That list feels a lot less painful than the Ravens' which has six players not practicing at all today after their physical Monday night affair with the Bengals, among them LB Ray Lewis, QB Steve McNair, T Jonathan Ogden, CB Samari Rolle and former Jets TE Daniel Wilcox.

"So...one week later and the Jets are now 0-2 and the Pats dismantled the Chargers by a whopping score of 38-14. Sound familiar? Fox Sports showed the tape on air and there is nothing on it. You lost because you team is in the wrong league. When the Jets lose to the Pats again in December, Coach Belichick will run up the score higher than any of you can count. Have fun losing to Miami!!!"
