File Under: Meadowlands, Broadway, Ryann, New York Jets Flight Crew

10/26 — For as long as I can remember, dancing has been my passion. I would dance for hours in my house and put on shows for my family (shows I forced my cousins to participate in). Dancing has been my outlet, my love, my passion and my life.

I began dancing at 5 years old and never stopped! I was blessed with so many wonderful, dedicated dance teachers. I began competing in dance when I was 12. I quickly found that I loved the thrill and excitement of the opening curtain, hearing the first measure of music playing ... yes, I fell in love with performing.

I used to imagine myself on Broadway — opening in a show ... hit the lights, curtain open to a packed audience; 5,000 people will be here to see me, watching my every move.

But wait. I quickly began to hear the beat of a different drum .... enter the Meadowlands!!! 80,000 fans cheering and screaming, and it's goodbye, Broadway, hello NFL!!!!! And yes, I am ready for some football!!!!!

I do not mean to dissuade anyone from seeking a career on Broadway, and every time I see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular I imagine myself on stage, the girl in the front row, dead center, and I become a part of the show, and for a brief moment I wonder, "What if I were 7 inches taller?"

And then I go home, turn on the TV to find an HDTV commercial and I see the NFL. It's a commercial for gameday attire, or maybe I'm packing my bag, I’m debating to watch "Remember the Titans" yet again ... and I remember, Football is my life! Dancing in the NFL is the greatest experience of my life.

Sorry, Rogers, no opening musical scores for me, no opening curtains, no final bow, no bouquet of flowers, and sadly ... no tap shoes. But what do I have ... hello Jumbotron, hello huge house lights, hello American flag almost the length of the football field, hello Jets flying overhead rocking the ground beneath my feet at the end of the National Anthem, hello tunnel packed with jumping nerves and anticipation and hello most exciting chant known to man ... just one of the greatest chants known to football: J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS!!!!!! And you can't beat that with a bow!

Yes, I had dreams of taking the LIRR to 42nd Street, but now I drive on the New Jersey Turnpike to the greatest destination I could have imagined, a spot on the field to cheer before a crowd of dedicated fans. I am so very proud to say I am a member of the New York Jets Flight Crew!

Thank you,

Ryann

"Its not so much that Cheering is a career, its that it is such a commitment for these girls. I guess you are not aware of how much time these girls give of themselves for practices, charity events and public appearances. "
