File Under: Richard Seymour, Oakland Raiders, Mark Sanchez, Greg Ellis

10/25 — An unexpected injury rumor was making the rounds here at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum this afternoon — and one that would favorably for the visitors from the east. Yet apparently it is not true.

The Raiders, it had been reported, would be without both starting defensive ends, Richard Seymour and Greg Ellis.

However, although Seymour, the former twice-a-year Jets nemesis as a Patriot, came down with an unspecified illness and Ellis had a knee injury that appeared to have worsened Friday, both are active for today's game and both in fact just jogged out onto the grass in uniform. Also, the Raiders announced no starting lineup changes for today's game, set to kick off at 4:05 p.m. ET.

Mark Sanchez and the Jets' offense won't be unhappy if those two are limited as the rookie QB attempts to end a three-game losing streak during which he's turned the ball over 10 times. And the Jets defense still isn't complaining about an Oakland offense that again will be missing three starters: RB Darren McFadden, LG Robert Gallery and RT Cornell Green.

For the Jets, the inactives are as anticipated. WRs Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) and Brad Smith (quadriceps) and CB Lito Sheppard (quad) are all out as head coach Rex Ryan announced Friday. S James Ihedigbo and LB Marques Murrell also stayed home by the coach's decision. Other inactives are QB Kevin O'Connell and G Matt Slauson. Erik Ainge is again the third QB.

The Raiders' full IA list: McFadden, Green, Gallery, LB Ricky Brown, T Langston Walker and WRs Chaz Schilens and Nick Miller. Charlie Frye is the third QB.

You can't call the Jets the Green & White today because they are, as advertised, wearing their white Titans road jerseys (and yellow pants, all with navy trim) for the first time. IMHO, these uniforms are sharp. If the Jets aren't going green and white, this is the way to go. Since the Jets have won four straight while wearing the Titans navy jerseys since 2007, we'll see if the Titans magic continues to work against the Raiders, another team celebrating the AFL's 50th Anniversary Season this year along with the Jets.

Today's referee is Gene Steratore, who has refereed four Jets games since 2006, including road wins at Tennessee in the 2006 opener and at New England last season.

The game will be kicking off soon, and as usual this will be my last report until the game story is posted ASAP after the game ends. But Eric Allen and Kyle Richardson are manning the CoveritLive chat on newyorkjets.com and I'll be contributing tweets during the chat and on the Jets' Twitter page.

"WOW!!!!!!! I pray and hope that Leon isn't severely injured, I also believe it is safe to say that David Clowney is now the 3rd Reciever, and if LW isn't injured badly, we will have a 3 headed monster running the ball going against the dolphins, then go into the bye and get our players rested. "

"Only good thing about the break, is that the fibula isn't a weight bearing bone, and he should have no problem recovering. This might be a good thing, because if this hadn't happened, he wouldn't be returning to the Jets next year. I still think Brad Smith is a playmaker at WR, I would take him over Clowney. If he didn't run out patterns 90% of the time, he would make more plays. Go Jets"

"Seeing Woodhead in was like watching Rudy! Hope the kid gets a chance to make a contribution. Let's now focus on Miami and see what NO did to stop the momentum. Props to the Rookie who stepped up big and to Clowney. Remember, the Raiders are a HS caliber team (let's keep in real). GO JETS!"
