File Under: Jerricho Cotchery, Miami Dolphins, Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller, Calvin Pace, Mark Sanchez, Land Shark Stadium

10/12 — The new guy is on the field and he already looks impressive just warming up in the 83-degree night air of north Miami.

Jets WR Braylon Edwards, who arrived in trade with the Browns on Wednesday, has been making a series of slow-motion circus-type catches while fielding TE Dustin Keller's throws and then flipping the ball to Mark Sanchez.

One catch was a leaping one-hander over his head. Another was a one-hand grab as he touched both feet in bounds. A third was an over-the-shoulder snare.

Braylon is clearly feeling loose for his latest Monday night exposure and for his first game as a Jet.

We haven't seen Jerricho Cotchery yet, but the good news for Jets fans is that J-Co is active. He was listed as questionable for this game with a hamstring pull that kept him sidelined for Friday's and Saturday's practices. Together, of course, the hope is that Cotchery and Edwards will help open up the Jets offense — the seam routes and zone dead spots for Keller, the ground game creases for Thomas Jones and Leon Washington.

Calvin Pace also hasn't come out to loosen up yet, but he will. He has to be bouncing off the walls of the Land Shark Stadium visitors' locker room at the prospect of his first action of the regular season following his four-week NFL suspension.

Update: Cotchery is now on the field with the rest of the Jets. At first he did some standing toe stretches, and he just took off up field, looking good. And Pace has a bounce to his step as well as he goes through drills with his linebacker mates.

On the Jets inactive list: QB Kevin O'Connell, CBs Lito Sheppard, Donald Strickland and Ahmad Carroll, LB Jamaal Westerman, G Matt Slauson and DE Ropati Pitoitua. Erik Ainge is again the third QB.

Miami's inactive list: S Chris Clemons, G Shawn Murphy, T Andrew Gardner, DE Lionel Dotson, WR Patrick Turner, TE John Nalbone and LB Quentin Moses. The third QB is Tyler Thigpen.

Dwight Lowery will again start for Sheppard at RCB for the Jets. The Dolphins have announced no lineup changes.

The Jets are wearing their white jerseys and green pants. The Dolphins normally wear their white jerseys and make the Jets wear their green shirts, except when they're meeting here in South Florida at night. Then the 'Fins come out in their aqua jerseys and the Jets have to go to white. Maybe Miami would want to think about this, though — the Jets have won their last three games in white jerseys, on ESPN in 1998, on ABC in '99 and back on ESPN in 2006.

Correction: The Dolphins are in their orange jerseys tonight, the jerseys they're wearing for only the third time in their history — and in which they're 2-0. Still, dark colors that haven't helped them against their old foes from the Northeast. But don't tell them that.

The referee for tonight's game is Alberto Riveron, a sixth-year official who is presiding over his first Jets game as a ref.

I will update this pregame blog but come 8:30, I'll shift to Twitter, tweeting about developments, records, personal bests and background detail, as we've done every week this season. Eric Allen will again moderate on the CoveritLive chat for Jets fans around the country and even the world.

I'll have my game story on newyorkjets.com shortly after the game concludes and will update it with quotes when we arrive back at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. EA will have a sidebar on how the wide receiver intrigue worked out for the Jets in this game, and Kyle Richardson will write a feature on Calvin Pace's return to action.

"That was a hard fought game. The Jets showed tremendous heart. I agree with everyone on the fact that Schottenheimer is horrible, but he didn't lose that game. The defense lost that game and Schottenheimer kept them on the field with his horrible play calls. Leon was averaging 6 yards per carry at halftime, AND YOU STOP GIVING HIM THE BALL? "

"It seems to me that when the Jets wear their green pants they tend to lose more often than when they wear their white pants. is there any truth to that or do I just prefer the white pants?"

Randy Lange Said:

"Nick, since 2000, for all regular-season and playoff games, the Jets are 16-27 when wearing green pants, 55-52 in white pants and 5-1 in gold (Titans) pants."
