08/15 — Darrelle Revis is in the Green & White fold.

New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, first-round draft choice Darrelle Revis, and Revis' agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, just concluded news conferences in the media room at the Jets' training complex tonight to announce that Revis has signed a contract.

"Being out so long, you think it's never going to end," Revis said of his 20 days and 22 practices totaling more than 53 hours of missed training camp. "We're just glad to get this process done and over with. We're happy, the Jets are happy. Right now it's one big family. We're in it together."

Neither side announced terms of the contract, but Tannenbaum called it "complicated" and Schwartz described it as "sophisticated and quite creative and unique." Tannenbaum said the sides had an agreement in principle at midnight.

"We spent the better part of today just working through the nuance and the technicalities of a very complicated contract — that’s why Darrelle wasn’t able to practice," the GM said. "We were just working through the process for the better part of the day into the night. It was just a long time throughout the day to get this to where we wanted it to be, but we’re glad it’s over. We are excited to put Darrelle on the field."

Schwartz said that in fact, "We've got a few more things in the contract to be signed. We've got to get back upstairs to finish drafting."

Revis said he passed his conditioning run this morning — "no problems." He said of whether he would play in Friday night's second preseason game vs. Minnesota, "That's up to Coach Mangini."

"Kendall doesn't appear to be disruptive to the team. He is still playing and will probably start. Ty Law pulled the same thing in 04 with the Pats. Well camp ended, he played the season and they won a Super Bowl. I would have no problem listening to some complaints in exchange for a Super Bowl."

"I agree Pete should get his raise but the Jets do not need to do anything. He is not going to sit out and he is still the best guard we have. He seems to already accept the fact that he is not getting more cash. We need this guy to pass block..something Clarke has yet to show he can do."
