08/29 — For the first time this preseason, the Jets will be close to full strength tonight when they meet the Giants here at the Meadowlands.
Right tackle Damien Woody, cornerback Darrelle Revis and nose tackle Kris Jenkins are in uniform and are expected to start. In fact, the only Jet who didn't dress was rookie RB Shonn Greene. Greene, who averaged 4.5 yards a carry in two games, suffered a rib injury during the Jets’ Monday night loss in Baltimore.
“I think it (the injury) happened my first play, but I didn’t start feeling it until a couple of plays later,” Greene said Thursday. “It’s just one of those things. I think I fell on the ball, and then I kind of collapsed on it and people fell on top of me.”
The 5’11, 227-pound Greene was slowed early in training camp because of an ankle injury.
“The ankle is fine and then this happens, so it’s like real frustrating for me,” he said. “Those kind of things happen and you just have to move on and get healthy.”
Big Blue lists a number of scratches including RB Andre Brown, CB Aaron Ross, LBs Michael Boley and Antonio Pierce, OL Orrin Thompson, WR David Tyree, DT Jay Alford and DL Chris Canty. Chase Blackburn will start in place of Pierce at MLB, Bryan Kehl will take Boley's spot at the Will and Kevin Dockery will man the island instead of Ross.
This is the final preseason meeting between the Jets and the Giants at this Meadowlands site. Next year, they’ll battle at a beautiful new venue just north of here.
We'll begin the chat minutes before kickoff. I'm scheduled to handle the first and third quarters while Randy Lange, our editor-in-chief, will pick up the second and most of the fourth stanzas. So let's get the questions rolling.

Sat, August 29, 2009 - 11:31pm ET"Sanchez looked great...but coach needs to kick Sheppard's butt until he learns how to play corner. And PLEASE, get us a punter who can punt more than 34 yards! My god that's embarrassing! Welcome to the Jets though Mark, great game buddy, I was real proud of you tonight my friend. Can't wait for the regular season. GO JETS!!"

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 12:04am ET"VG is horrible, 1 tackle, 1 penalty. Penalties need to be cleaned up. I'm still concerned with the secondary, Lito Sheppard didn't look good and the announcers were calling his play "lazy". For an aggressive D to work you need QB pressure and 2 good corners and we still seem to be lacking 1 corner. I hope Lito steps up his play. Leon, again, was the best player on the team, please sign him already"

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 1:52am ET"If I was VG, KC, or maybe even RH, I might hold onto that rent check next month. Maybe we give VG the year to show what he can do, he doesn't have to start and can leave next year. But we need a punter now and as long as EA can come off the bench and throw the winning TD, underthrown or not, I don't see much need to hold onto KC. MS and EA have made him look like the rookie too often thus summer."

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 2:04am ET"I just watched Rex say that we're gonna be a running team. My question is not if that's a good idea but what makes him think we can do it. TJ looks dead on his feet, Greene's hurt, and Woodhead goes down as soon as he's touched. Maybe we ought to stop talking about getting a WR and talk about getting another RB. The running game I'm seeing so far isn't gonna frighten too many good NFL defenses."

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 8:46am ET"Sanchez looked AWSOME. He will have some bad days like all QBs. But I think he is the real deal and I am very excited. Broadway Mark!!! Go Jets"

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 10:47am ET"Leon needs to be locked up long term. Immediately. VG is going to be perhaps the biggest bust in team history. Just admit it and bench him already. There's no reason to keep trying to play him at this point and expose the defense. "

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 3:16pm ET"'64 Tom, we are facing two of the best D's in the league the last two weeks. Very few teams will run against them. In general, we will be a running team this year. In fact, without Leon's runs last week, Sanchez would not have gotten an offensive first down. Every one of his drives would have been a three and out."

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 6:38pm ET"I hear ya, Ray, I just -- at the risk of offending our new fearless leader -- notice his optimism can run a bit high. We'll have to do better against these kinda D's to win many games. "Without Leon's runs last week," we'd have had no running at all! What I see of TJ so far makes me real glad we didn't give him the $ Leon deserves. If Greene isn't right on opening day, we're gonna need help at RB."

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 7:31pm ET"You all wouldnt be praising Sanchez if he lost cause you band wagon riders would do the same thing to him what you do to Clemens. Why play like you mean it if the fans never support you. I swear you bandwagoniers are complaining unless your winning. Its only 1 game and pre season.....Just wait till Sanchez gets his butt handed to him in reg season. I will laugh...."

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 11:02pm ET"Jets fan here, I didn't like KC from DAY ONE -- not in college, not when they picked him, not when he started. Still have questions about MS but he's answering them. LOVED EA in college, didn't get why the Jets mothballed him, but now he's looking good. And I'll take 6-10 this year with MS and the new guys over lucking into post-season with over-the-hill vets and getting crushed in the 1st round."

Sun, August 30, 2009 - 11:28pm ET"Uh jets fan here - are you SURE your a Jets fan? You smell kinda "fishy" if ya know what I mean."

Mon, August 31, 2009 - 9:44pm ET"Didn't like KC, if I remember the whole stadium cheered when Chad limped off the field and KC ran on.. But anyway, he does deserve a trade, don't see one in sight though. Hope Favre gets sacked 10 times tonight. No one player is bigger then a team. Marketing is one thing, but without the fans, there wouldn't be a league. MS, you haven't won me over yet. VG now has the BUST label. Go Jets good win!"
