08/20 — Rex Ryan didn’t want Darrelle Revis doing what he did early in this morning’s full-squad training camp practice at SUNY Cortland. But just the same, he likes what it says about Revis and his team.
“That wasn’t our plan, to have him in there,” the Jets head coach said of his Pro Bowl cornerback, who jumped into the today’s first 11-on-11 drills even though he’s still working his way back from his hamstring pull. “Then all of a sudden he’s in there and it’s like ‘Someone get Revis outta there.’
“That was him pronouncing himself ready to go,” Rex said. “But that’s good. I mean, these guys want to come back. It’s not like they’re trying to get out of anything. They’re ready to play. They want to play.”
By extension, Ryan likes the way his players have come together here in Cortland.
“I like the way the guys are around each other, the way they practice against each other. The communication has been good, the bonding — all that stuff has been important,” he said. “That’s one of the reasons we came here. That’s been a big thing that I’ve seen. Obviously, there have been some players that have stepped up and improved their stock in this football team. I just like the overall attitude of our team.”
But getting back to those injuries, Rex said, “We’ve just got to be smart. We can’t have a foolish setback.” So for Revis, as well as LG Alan Faneca (finger) and RT Damien Woody (concussion), both of whom also are hinting they’d like to get in some reps vs. the Ravens, not to mention DT Kris Jenkins (calf), the message from the boss is the same: “I don’t anticipate them playing.”

Can't wait to see him and Jenkins back on the field though. Jenkins looks like a sherman tank when he wears green its hilarious guy is a beastt"

"Michael, rain won't shut down practice but thunder and lightning will. Keep a close eye on the weather and on newyorkjets.com. We'll let you know about the status of practice as soon as we know."

I don't see any reason for starting Clemens if they drafted Sanchez as the number 5 pick. I think Sanchez and Dustin Keller will be a hot combo this season. Keller is a great tight end and will only get better."

And that holds true with all the starters. I would like to see them play vs the Giants but once again health is more important at this stage. Rex is on top of everything and doing a great job."
