08/12 — It was back to work on Sunday afternoon at Hofstra and for Chansi Stuckey, that meant a continuation of his fine play thus far in training camp. During the afternoon’s first set of 11-on-11 drills, the rookie wide receiver showed great athleticism and control adjusting on a low throw from quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo. He reached across his body while sliding toward the middle of the field to make the 25-yard catch.

Working with Kellen Clemens later in practice, Stuckey had another leaping, body-control, great-hands catch-and-run. This one came as he leaned in on CB Rayshaun Kizer for the catch, then took off across the field, leaving S Jamie Thompson and others in his wake.

“Once again, Kellen and the line did a great job," Stuckey said about the play, which abruptly ended the designed game simulation. "I got behind the guy, Kellen gave me a throw and I just adjusted to the ball the best I could and I was able to catch it.”

The Green & White got back to hitting each other during 7-on-7 running drills. RB Alvin Banks was on the receiving end of a jarring hit from LB Blake Costanzo as Banks was knocked on his back 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Early on in 7-on-7 work with the wideouts, tight ends and backs, QB Brett Ratliff and WR Justin McCareins connected. Ratliff zipped a tight spiral 20 yards toward the sideline and McCareins jumped high over CB Alphonso Hodge to make the catch.

During the afternoon’s first set of 11-on-11s, Chad Pennington delivered a nicely thrown 20-yard ball to TE Chris Baker. S Erik Coleman, who had broken up a pass on the previous play, was noticeably upset after yielding the reception to Baker, jumping high off the ground and clapping his hands.

After a water break midway through practice, special teams work focused on individual plays for punts near the end zone. Ben Graham practiced his booming backspin punts and the returners worked on fair catches with pressure from two unblocked gunners trying to down the ball just outside the end zone. Wallace Wright made two nice plays, running to catch a punt on the fly inside the 5, then putting himself in good position to down a Tony Hollings tip out of the end zone at the 2.

Good pressure was applied during late 11-on-11 work. DE Shaun Ellis got a good push on T Anthony Clement to rush a Pennington pass, and DE Kimo von Oelhoffen toppled over rookie T Jacob Bender to land at Kellen Clemens' feet as No. 11 threw an incompletion.

Leon Washington dropped a swing pass from Clemens — actually, it was a pop-up drop, with the ball bouncing up off his pads as he tried to catch and turn his body upfield.

Brad Smith rolled left and then fired a ball downfield to Chris Davis. The throw was low but catchable and Davis was open, but he couldn't pluck the ball off the turf.

Pennington overthrew Justin McCareins, working against David Barrett, with S Rashad Washington waiting to gobble up the gift interception.

Clemens and TE Sean Ryan, after four completions and two TDs vs. Atlanta, continued to hook up, this time on a completion over the middle during two-minute work.

Mike Nugent ended practice by going 3-for-4 against the narrow posts. "Nooge" hit from 38 and 43, missed right from 52, then nailed a 52-yarder.
