File Under: Mike Nugent, David Barrett, Andre Dyson, Tony Hollings, Evan Prall

08/07 — I didn't do my due diligence as a sports meteorologist because the early evening weather was not nearly as bad as the morning's heat, more low 80s under a thick cloud cover than low 90s under a still sizzling setting sun.

And the practice wasn't as sizzling as the morning session, more learning and review, it seemed for the most part.

Andre Dyson came up with a gem in early teams work, jumping on a Chad Pennington pass intended for Laveranues Coles and coming up with the interception. Later, 10 and 87 returned the favor by completing a crisp pass against Dyson's coverage.

In those same 11-on-11 drills, the good news was that Evan Prall, the free agent WR from East Stroudsburg, leaped for a pretty sideline reception of a Marques Tuiasosopo throw. The bad news was that Prall was caught extending his arm to hold off the coverage of CB Rayshaun Kizer. The penalty: One lap for Prall.

David Barrett continued his strong corner play on a Pennington-to-Coles downfield ball that Barrett broke up.

Pennington tried for another 90-plus-yard drive to match his 99-yard march of the a.m., but this time he was stopped at midfield.

Kellen Clemens was quick to read the opening vacated by S Rashad Washington and hit Chansi Stuckey crisply.

Recently signed RB Tony Hollings had a couple of back-to-back gainers, the first on an off-tackle run, the second on a pass from Brad Smith.

Mike Nugent kept up his hot foot with a pair of "game-winning" field goals to end the two-minute drills at the end of practice. The second was a mere 55-yarder, solidly hit and down the middle with room to spare. So far this summer, Nooge is looking huge.

"I remember Nooge used to kick the ball 5 yds deep every kickoff @ OSU and always drilled 50+ yds FGs with ease. I know this because I am a Michigan fan and saw him kill them for 3+ yrs. The league just wants to see returns. so they use the K-Ball....which is great the Jets and Justin Miller"

"I am very concerned about Nugent being the only kicker in camp. Will his leg be tired as the season progresses? Let's get another kicker for camp ASAP."
