06/01 — And now the Jets' Pro Bowl backfield is whole again.
The Green & White have another OTA practice this morning, and on the field in the white jersey with the green number 29 is Leon Washington.
Washington, who stayed away from practices for three weeks, reportedly over his contract situation, is back with the team. The players are loosening up and doing prepractice drills on the turf field outside the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, and when they finish and head to the grass field for the full OTA, Washington will be participating.
Since Thomas Jones, No. 20, returned to the voluntary practices last week, that means that the Jets' one-two punch is back and that head coach Rex Ryan's and coordinator Brian Schottenheimer's "ground and pound" offensive approach is ready to roll.
This is the last week of voluntary OTAs, with practices scheduled for today, Wednesday and Thursday. Next week, June 9-11, is the mandatory full-squad minicamp at the AHJTC, the crown jewel of Jets Week activities, with all five practices open to the public. We'll have more details on those practices the rest of this week.
Clemens Baby Stats
Final numbers — or should we say starting stats — on the new Clemens in the family. Grant Michael Clemens was born Friday, May 29, to Kellen and Nicole. He checked in at 9 pounds, 13 ounces and 22 inches in length. Sounds like he might be some quarterback's blindside protector some day. Congratulations and best wishes to all the Clemenses.
Welcome Back, Carlson
We want to extend a warm welcome back to another former member of our family. Tim Carlson, the Internet and publications intern who served so ably last season, has returned from the Czech Republic and points east to help us out during Jets Week activities, two weeks of events for fans and area businesses centered around those five practices I mentioned above.
Tim will be reporting on many of the events, such as Tuesday's Jets Charity Golf Classic at Trump National GC in Bedminster, N.J., the Jets Shop grand opening in Manhattan on Wednesday, the Flight Crew unveiling June 8.
Good to have you back, Tim, along with Leon and TJ.

Originally the Giants and Jets said that the new NJ stadium would cost $800 million and now the costs have spiralled to $1.6 billion. The PSL fees are to generate close to $800 million the initial cost of the stadium. It is a travesty to NY season ticket holders."

Tue, June 2, 2009 - 1:35pm ET"@ EDUARDO - 'Czechoslovakya does not exist as a country, it´s either Slovakya or Czech Republic..' -- Actually, here in the USA, the names would be 'Czechoslovakia' and 'Slovakia,' with an 'I' rather than a 'Y'. Czechoslovakia is the English spelling of 'Československo' (that's both Czech and Slovak). And yes, I checked several sources."

Tue, June 2, 2009 - 4:56pm ET"I think if Kellen should get his shot at starting but Sanchez needs to be put into the mix if within the first four games Kellen Can't get it done. But lets give him a shot and congrats to the guy on his new kid... I also am excited leon is back. Randy any word on this guy getting a new contract."
Randy Lange Said:
"Anthony, no word from us yet on any contracts. Sorry."
HDR Said:
Tue, June 2, 2009 - 7:00pm ET"Your so right MikeMC. Having two good QB's is needed in today's NFL and to be blunt, it's been a really long time since the Jets have had two QB with the potential that these two have. I just hope that we can bring Sanchez along slowly. It will benefit him. besides I think Kellen is ready, and worst case, we will get a nice draft pick for him when Sanchez is ready. He really is our future."

Wed, June 3, 2009 - 9:13am ET"i agree, I think Kellen is going to do great, only problem is hes in the last year of his contract, so if he does amazing with us, we don't know what hell do, if he has a good year he might test FA because we have Sanchez, it really is a bad position if Kellen Suceeds But kellen is 4 years older, well see but who knows. Not the first time the jets made a bad pick, but for Mike T it might be his 1"
