04/28 — All you New York Jets Flight Crew candidates out there, it's time to start gearing up for auditions. One way to do that is to attend one of the two remaining Flight Crew prep classes.

The Long Island prep class is set for tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the David Mack Sports Complex at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. The New York City class will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Chelsea Studios, 151 W. 26th St., New York. The fee for each class is $25.

Both classes still have openings and walk-up registration will be accepted. If you want to check out the registration form and more information on both prep classes, you can click here.

Flight Crew director Denise Garvey suggests that any audition candidate take one or both of the remaining classes, even if she participated in last week's first prep class at Lifetime Fitness in Florham Park, N.J.

"I encourage candidates that, if they haven't taken a prep class, to come out and see what it's all about," Garvey said. "And I encourage those who came out to the first prep class that they can attend the second and third classes. At these last two classes, we're going to be doing two more routines that we did last year and it's a good opportunity for people to see the styles and to be able to try them.

"One of the most important things in auditioning is being able to pick up choreography quickly and to get used to that competitive atmosphere."

Prospects also can ask questions and find out how the auditions are run, plus get tips on hair, makeup and exercise.

It's all about being as prepared as possible to make a splash at the auditions. The first round of the auditions are Saturday, May 2, and the semifinals are the next day. Both will be held at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park. All candidates who plan to audition must be preregistered. Download the audition application form and audition information here.

So if you've got nothing on your calendar tonight or Thursday night, take in a prep class to get ready for the auditions this weekend. Then who knows? You could be on your way to joining a fabulous team and performing in front of 80,000 cheering fans in the 2009 season ahead.
