04/25 — The New York Jets will use Twitter, Jets Wireless and newyorkjets.com to inform the fans of the Green & White who the team is selecting before the picks are announced at the 2009 NFL Draft, set to begin today at 4 p.m. at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Fans on Jets Twitter will hear it all first — the identity of each pick as it's being made, before it's announced — so make sure you've signed up to become a Jets follower at http://twitter.com/nyjets. We'll also send this information to you via Jets Wireless and with instantaneous reports on Randy's Radar.

All of these tools will provide you with the identity of the player the Jets are drafting before NFL commissioner Roger Goodell gives the word on NFL Network and ESPN, beginning with the Jets' first pick today, which is currently No. 17 in the first round.

Once our selection has been determined, Jets owner Woody Johnson will leave the team's draft room and give me the go-ahead to release the name via a tweet at http://twitter.com/nyjets and Jets Wireless and right here on the Radar.

Woody will also be sending tweets from his own Twitter account throughout the day, as will Eric Allen and I from the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, not only immediately before each draft pick is announced but in between picks to give you the behind-the-scenes story on the Jets' 2009 draft.

The Jets have been NFL trailblazers on Twitter, with players such as Kerry Rhodes, Nick Mangold and Jay Feely sending tweets for months and with updates from EA and me at the Jets' veteran minicamp last week. Followers of the Jets players should make sure to check Woody Johnson's tweets today and Sunday.

"wow, u know nothing about football, do u have any idea what the bears gave up to get jay cutler, mike vet jet? Way more than what the jets gave up for sanchez. Also, clemens is the perfect guy for the jets, if you are a jets fan u would know that he is, and sanchez was selected as someone they can develop if clemens doesnt work out. "

"Im not one of these people who say invest for the future but sanchez is one that we need to keep an eye on or at least give a him a change to develope for the future. I also belive we need players who can perform now and then focus on the future as you need to build a future team off the back of the current successors. Either that or get a better scout team someone or knows success when he sees it"
