File Under: Mike Tannenbaum, Joey Clinkscales, Rex Ryan, veteran minicamp

04/16 — The veteran players emerge from the weightroom, the classrooms and the fieldhouse at the Atlantic Health Training Center for their first taste of the Rex Ryan era of Jets football in the great outdoors.

Today begins the first of a three-day voluntary veteran minicamp, Ryan's first of three minis as Jets head coach. The second, a rookie camp, comes the weekend after the NFL Draft next Saturday and Sunday, and the third is a mandatory full-squad camp in June. All three minicamps are closed to the public, open to the media.

And speaking of the media, here's what you can expect from us today. The opening practice of camp starts shortly and will be followed by player availability in the locker room, then a Ryan news conference beginning at 1 p.m. in the media room, which will be streamed live on newyorkjets.com. The players will then finish up today's outdoor work with an afternoon practice.

The schedule will be almost the same on Friday, with Ryan's midday news conference scheduled for a slightly earlier slot, to begin at 12:40 p.m.

Additionally on Friday, GM Mike Tannenbaum, vice president of college scouting Joey Clinkscales and senior personnel executive Terry Bradway will hold their annual predraft news conference with reporters here beginning at 2 p.m. We also plan to bring that news conference to you live.

There is no media availability for Saturday's minicamp sessions.

Eric Allen and I will provide Radar entries and news stories all three days, we'll all take a breath Sunday, then we'll head down the draft homestretch next week.

We'll see you sometime this afternoon. (That's broadcast-news-speak, of course. We won't really "see" you at all. That Internet technology for us to literally see all of you and you to see us through our computers doesn't exist. Yet.)

"I got no beef on the schedule. Jets play Bills in Toronto this year Dec.3. I get to see my first NFL game ever with my fav team. CFL is the NFL's garbage dump. And playing them in Toronto means no home field advantage for Bills. Go Jets! Gonna cost me about $1700. Its so worth it."

"I can't wait to move to NY, just a year of school left, then I'm going to have season tickets! I'm ready for the D to get fired up about hitting someone, too many times there were missed tackles and Mangini would just chew some more gum. Still wandering why we went after Austin... Ready for change. Good luck Rex. Anyone who attends these camps should also tell us about it."
